MAIN ACTIVITY: In order to meet the country's petroleum products demand Procurement and processing of crude oil Export and import of all kinds of petroleum products Establishment, purchase, take over, operation and expansion of petroleum refineries with auxiliary facilities Handling crude oil and refined petrol product. The refinery capacity reached to11.5 millions tons/year with completion of debottlenecking and expansion projects. The refinery has three crude and three vacuum distillation units, two unifiner / reformer units, two FCC units, one sulphur recovery unit, one isopentane unit, one naphtha sweetening unit and related utility units. Crude oil and intermediate product processing capacities of Izmit Refinery in Turkiye, are given 40.000 m3/day Crude Units , 14.300 m3/day Vacuum Units, 2.200 m3/day FCC Unit ,3.250 m3/day Reformer Unit, 8.600 m3/day Desulphurizer Units (Sulphur Removal) , 3.650 m3/day Hydrocraker Unit ,3.000 m3/day Visbreaker Unit
ANCHORAGE AREAS: please see "Gulf of Izmit" (Information on best location of anchorage will be given by Pilot station). 1,5 miles N.W. of the terminnal.
PILOTAGE: is compulsory for vessels entering or leaving the ports and through the Izmit Gulf. Call Dekas Pilot on VHF channels 12, 16 three hours before arrival at Darica for through the port. Pilot Boarding Point which is Lat. 40 deg 44' 89" N and Long. 029 deg 22' 66" E.
TOWAGE: and/or mooring boat compulsory arranged by pilot and provided by the TUPRAS and additional tugs are used by the Med-Marine.
BERTHING: Tankers should ask for the berthing time and act according to instructions given by the port. There are One Crude Platform (Max. Vessel Size 300,000 DWT), Two Jetties With 8 Berths (Max. Vessel Size 100,000 DWT). All dolphins are fitted with quick release hooks. For LPG carriers 2 berths are used, also refined products carriers use the same berths. Crude is imported to a Sea Inland for VLCC and to the original old jetty for small tankers. The original jetty is at the Southern corner of the refinery at Kilier Bar. A new berth has constructed some 0.5 mile North of old jetty. The new berth is a modern concrete pile construction with a roadway out from the shore taking the pipes, with the berths leading of at 45 deg. With 4 mooring/fender dolphins to seaward, connected with a cat-walk. Vessels berth on both sides of this jetty, generally head in. Fender and mooring arrangement is good. This jetty is used for LPG and refined products. The Sea Island consists of a platform with three dolphins on each side. There are no connections between the platform and the dolphins. Fendering and mooring arrangements acceptable for tankers of 150.000 dwt.Vessels normally berthed port-side to at the Sea Island.

BUNKER: available by barge. (Notice to agent 48 hours required prior to berthing).
AIRPORT: At Istanbul distance apprx. 128 km from the port.
WORKING HOURS: operates 24 hours a day year round,
GARBAGE REMOVAL: collected once a day by service boat of the TUPRAS Refinery Port Control.
WASTE OIL DISPOSAL: service is available to the shore ballast tank. There are 500 m3/day Industrial Waste Water Treatment Units , 550 m3/day Sewage Water Treatment Unit..
BALLAST: Oil ballast must be pumped ashore to the refinery. There is 750 m3/day ballast water treatment unit. Vessels shall not discharge into the waters of the port any part of the content of their cargo, slop or ballast tanks or bilges, which is liable to pollute these waters.
SHORE LEAVE: Crew permitted ashore with shore passes. It is forbidden to wander on jetty and in refinery area.
OTHER INFORMATION: All information about "Harbour Regulations" and "International Oil Tanker and Terminal Safety Guide" given to Master after berthing. The main engines of all vessels while at the berth shall be kept ready for immediate use. Fire Fighting Equipment must be adequately manned for fire-fighting and vacating the berth in case of an emergency.
